Milkon Steel is growing and we're looking for a 2nd year Structural Steel Fabrication Apprentice to join the workshop.
This is perfect for someone who’s already started their fabrication/boilermaker apprenticeship, knows their way around a workshop, and wants proper exposure to commercial structural steel — not just brackets and handrails.
ABOUT US
Milkon Steel is a structural steel fabrication and install company based in Seaford. We build real projects: warehouses, schools, tilt-up builds, mixed-use developments. You’ll work with experienced boilermakers, site crews and project supervisors who actually care about getting you qualified and competent on the tools.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
Fabrication of structural steel (UBs, PFCs, SHS, base plates, cleats etc.)
Reading and working from shop drawings / setout marks
Cutting, drilling, grinding and prepping components
MIG welding / FCAW under supervision and to spec
Using overhead crane / lifting gear safely in the workshop
Assisting with fit-up and assembly of frames and assemblies
Basic QC: stamping, tagging, checking measurements before dispatch
Loading trucks and helping get gear ready for site installs
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
You’re currently a 2nd year apprentice in Engineering Fabrication (Boilermaker / Heavy Steel)
You can weld, tack, and use basic fabrication tools safely
You can read a tape properly (to the mm) and aren’t guessing
You turn up on time and don’t disappear when it’s clean-up time
White Card or willing to get one
Forklift / dogging / overhead crane tickets are a bonus (not required)
WHAT YOU GET
Full time role with overtime opportunities
Pay in line with award + penalties + super
Real structural steel experience (CC2-level work, not just gates and trays)
Explicit pathway to continue your apprenticeship through to trade qualification
Proper supervision and support from senior fabricators
Reliable hours in a busy workshop in Seaford (no long city commute)
THIS ROLE WOULD SUIT
Someone who started an apprenticeship somewhere else and isn't getting looked after / not getting real steel experience
Someone who wants long-term trade work in structural steel, not just “a job”
