Coordinate a major governance and community project
Mer Gedkem Le is looking for an organised and capable Project Coordinator to support the delivery of a grant-funded governance framework project on Murray Island.
Working with the Chairperson and Directors, you’ll keep the project organised, moving and properly documented - coordinating activities, stakeholders, consultants, budgets, milestones and grant reporting.
The project includes strengthening Board capability, reviewing policies and procedures, refreshing the Strategic Plan, supporting young Meriam leaders, progressing governance and constitutional work, and supporting community engagement.
What you’ll be doing
Develop and maintain the project plan, schedule and action register.
Track milestones, deadlines, risks and project expenditure.
Coordinate Board meetings, workshops, consultations and training.
Prepare agendas, papers, minutes, reports and project records.
Coordinate consultants, advisers, suppliers and other stakeholders.
Support community consultation and engagement activities.
Assist with policy,
strategic planning and governance project work.
Monitor grant obligations, contracts, invoices and evidence.
Support grant reporting, acquittals and project outcome reporting.
About you
You’re a robust organiser who can turn a project plan into action, follow up details and keep people informed.
You’ll ideally have experience coordinating projects, meetings, community engagement, budgets and reporting. Experience with grant-funded, governance, community or organisational development projects will be highly regarded.
Just as importantly, you’ll need valuable judgement, robust written communication skills and the ability to work respectfully with Directors, Elders, Traditional Owners, community members and other stakeholders.
This position can be based in Cairns or Mer (Murray Island).
Applicants who choose to be based on Murray Island must already have suitable accommodation available to them, as accommodation is not provided and accommodation options on the island are very limited.
Applicants must also have the legal right to work in Australia.
Please note: We are not accepting resumes or approaches from recruitment agencies for this position.
