Mechanical Supervisor
to lead our high-performing mechanical team in Weipa.

As a Mechanical Supervisor, you'll play a key role in leading our workshop and site teams, driving a strong safety culture, delivering quality outcomes, and building lasting relationships with our clients.

About the Role
Reporting to the Mechanical Superintendent, you will be responsible for leading our workshop and field teams across a diverse range of maintenance, shutdown, fabrication and construction projects.
You will ensure work is planned, executed safely, delivered to a high standard, and completed efficiently while maintaining strong communication with both our clients and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and supervise mechanical tradespeople and apprentices across workshop and site activities.
Coordinate daily work activities, resources and project priorities.
Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with company procedures and client requirements.
Drive compliance with safety systems, risk management processes and quality documentation.
Plan and coordinate shutdown maintenance,



fabrication and mechanical works to meet project schedules.
Build and maintain positive relationships with clients through professional communication and exceptional service.
Mentor, develop and support team members while promoting a positive, accountable workplace culture.
Monitor project progress, productivity and quality to ensure successful project outcomes.
Lead by example through a hands-on approach and commitment to Junction's values.
Participate in after-hours, weekend and shutdown work as required.
About You
We're looking for a leader who brings more than technical capability.
You're someone who earns the respect of your team, communicates well with clients, enjoys mentoring others and takes pride in delivering quality work.
You will have:
Previous experience in a Mechanical Supervisor, Leading Hand or similar leadership role (or be a senior tradesperson ready to step into supervision).
Trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter or Boilermaker.
Strong experience in mechanical maintenance, shutdowns, fabrication and project delivery.
Excellent leadership, communication and people management skills.
A process-driven approach with a strong focus on planning, organisation and continuous improvement.
A solid understanding of safety systems, quality assurance and project documentation.
Experience managing job planning, labour allocation, work packs and project reporting.
A commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship while leading by example.
A positive attitude,



strong work ethic and a hands-on approach to leadership.
Essential Requirements
Trade Qualification – Mechanical Fitter or Boilermaker.
Current Driver's Licence.
G1 (RIIRIS301E – Apply Risk Management Processes).
Current Confined Space and Working at Heights (within two years).
Current Coal Board Medical or MMQ Medical (or willingness to obtain).
Ability to pass Drug and Alcohol Screening.
Current Rio Tinto Induction (or willingness to obtain).
