Job DetailsYolk Digital is engaged by Services Australia to provide experienced Senior Project Officers to support the delivery of the agency's projects from within its project management office.
Working under the limited direction of senior staff, you'll manage straightforward projects end to end: developing and managing project plans and schedules under the agency's project management framework, coordinating regular status and exception reporting, and preparing business cases, executive briefs and corporate documentation.
You'll monitor project budgets and expenditure, assist with procurement and contract management, and help identify and manage project risks, issues and benefits.
The role also carries a leadership thread: you may guide a small team of project staff, set work priorities, coach and train colleagues, and provide specialist project advice to stakeholders across the agency.
You'll build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, represent your team in forums including conferences and meetings, and contribute to strategic planning and continuous improvement of project practices.
LocationQLD, ACT or SA.
Hybrid working arrangements.
Duration12 months, commencing 5 October ****, with extension options up to a maximum of 24 months.
Clearance & CitizenshipYou must be able to obtain a Baseline security clearance and must have an Australian Citizenship.
Key ResponsibilitiesManage and coordinate straightforward projectsDevelop and manage project plans and schedules in accordance with the agency's project management frameworkContribute to the development of team objectives for short term tasks and strategic planning for longer-term initiativesSupport staff, including coaching and training to build knowledge and capabilityProvide specialist advice and technical expertise to staff and stakeholdersPerform independent research work and analysis including the preparation of draft reports on relevant project activitiesCoordinate regular project reporting including status updates and exception reportsPrepare draft written material including business cases, plans, executive briefs and corporate documentationMonitor project budgets,

Essential CriteriaMeasurement (SFIA Level 4): Identifies and prioritises appropriate measures, scales, and targets.
Supports projects, functions or teams in the development of measurement methods.
Specifies base and derived measures which support agreed information needs.
Specifies how to collect and store the data for each required measure.
Provides guidance on collection of data.
Designs reports and reporting formats.Methods and tools (SFIA Level 3): Provides support on the use of existing methods and tools.
Configures methods and tools within a known context.




Creates and updates the documentation of methods and tools.Portfolio, programme and project support (SFIA Level 5): Takes responsibility for the provision of portfolio, programme and project support.
Advises on the available standards, procedures, methods, tools and techniques.
Evaluates project and programme performance and recommends changes where necessary.
Contributes to reviews and audits of project and programme management to ensure conformance to standards.Project management (SFIA Level 4): Defines, documents and executes small projects or sub-projects.
Works alone or with a small team actively participating in all phases of the project.
Applies appropriate project management methods and tools.
Identifies, assesses and manages risks effectively.
Agrees project approach with stakeholders and prepares realistic project plans.
Tracks activities against the project schedule, managing stakeholder involvement as appropriate.
Monitors costs, times, quality and resources used, and takes action where these exceed agreed tolerances.Quality management (SFIA Level 4): Assists in the development of recent or improved practices and organisational processes or standards.
Assists projects, functions or teams in planning the quality management for their area of responsibility.
Facilitates localised improvements to the quality system or services.
