Research & Development Engineer
Opportunity
Reporting to the Global Director – Rock Reinforcement, as our
Research & Development (R&D;) Engineer
you will drive the development of new and innovative Rock Reinforcement products and systems, from concept through to commercialisation.
You will be responsible for identifying market-driven opportunities, designing and validating products, maintaining engineering documentation and specifications, operating testing facilities, and providing technical support to manufacturing and sales functions.

What You'll Be Doing
As a key member of the Rock Reinforcement team, you'll play an integral role in developing innovative products and systems that address emerging customer and industry needs.
Your responsibilities will include:
New Product Development
Conceptualise and develop new Rock Reinforcement product designs and systems that address market and customer needs.
Generate innovative engineering solutions from concept through to commercial implementation.
Design, manufacture and evaluate prototype products through phased development and testing programs.
Validate product performance against technical and commercial requirements.
Support the rollout, implementation and continuous improvement of new products.
Engineering Design
Generate and maintain engineering drawings and 3D models.
Maintain a revision-controlled engineering drawing database.
Ensure all design documentation complies with company standards and engineering best practice.
Manage engineering design revisions and changes through established control processes.

Product Portfolio Management
Manage and maintain technical specifications for existing products.
Review and update product information and technical documentation as required.
Ensure product specifications remain accurate, current and aligned with operational requirements.
Technical Support, Testing & Validation
Provide technical product support to production facilities, sales teams and customers as required.
Assist in troubleshooting product performance and manufacturing issues.
Support continuous improvement initiatives relating to product quality, reliability and manufacturability.
Operate and manage the Rock Reinforcement test facility and associated testing equipment.
Conduct product validation and performance testing in a safe, scientific and systematic manner.
Maintain test records and prepare technical reports detailing findings and recommendations.
Manufacturing Support
Provide engineering support to the Wangara production facility.
Assist with the design, fabrication, installation and commissioning of production equipment and tooling.
Support process improvements to enhance quality, efficiency and safety.
Work collaboratively with production teams to solve engineering and operational challenges.
About You
You're an engineer who enjoys solving real problems and seeing the results of your work in the field.
You're curious, practical and proactive, with the ability to balance technical detail with commercial outcomes.
You'll Bring:
Essential
Mechanical Engineering degree (or equivalent).
Demonstrated experience using CAD software within an engineering environment.
Strong technical report writing and documentation skills.
Sound understanding of engineering principles and product development processes.
Basic project management knowledge and experience.
Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook & SharePoint).
Proactive and results driven with a curious mindset with a strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to develop practical and innovative engineering solutions.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
Highly Desirable
Experience within hard rock mining or related heavy industry environments.
Exposure to Lean Product Development methodologies.
Experience in production equipment design and process flow optimisation.
Experience supporting manufacturing environments.
Product testing and validation experience.
Additional Information
Flexibility to travel both interstate and globally is required.
