Scope of Work:
Due to continued growth and recent project awards, NRW Civil &
Mining are seeking an experienced
Senior Section
Engineer
to join our high-performing team on upcoming
infrastructure projects.
This role will see you working on large-scale urban projects
such as roads, bridges, rail, and associated infrastructure within
a metro environment.
The successful candidate will provide senior
technical leadership and engineering oversight, coordinating and
administering engineering activities to ensure projects are
delivered safely, in accordance with plans, designs, and
specifications, and to successful completion.
You will play a key role in mentoring and developing Section
Engineers, Project Engineers and Graduates, acting as a senior
point of escalation and supporting the Construction Manager in
client-facing discussions and project reviews.

To be considered for the position as a Senior Section
Engineer you must possess the following as a minimum:
Bachelor of Civil Engineering qualification or relevant
degree
Extensive experience as a Senior Section Engineer, Section
Engineer or similar role in a large-scale civil or
infrastructure environment
Main Roads WA experience highly regarded, with a strong
understanding of authority requirements and approval processes
including scope of works and requirements
Deep technical expertise across road and pavement
construction, including bulk/detailed earthworks, subgrade
preparation, and complex structures
High-level financial management experience, including
end-of-month reporting, package forecasting, variance analysis,
and productivity optimisation
Demonstrated ability to independently communicate and
negotiate with clients, subcontractors and suppliers to meet
project objectives, escalating to the Construction Manager as
required
Competent in conducting, reviewing and/or coordinating
Performance Appraisals and Development Plans for direct
reports
Demonstrates active ownership in the monitoring and growth
of direct reports
Demonstrated experience mentoring and developing Section
Engineers, Project Engineers and Graduate Engineers
Ability to disseminate company communications in an
engaging and consistent manner at project level
Ability to inspire and lead relevant work teams within the
project scope
Demonstrates an understanding, and can apply applicable
legislative requirements (i.e. WHS/OHS Act, Regulations,
Quality and Environment)
Experience in managing procurements and packages of
works
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, CAD and PDF
software packages
Knowledge of Microsoft Project / Primavera P6 software
Proven site execution capability, working with Supervisors,
Superintendents and client representatives to maintain and
build strong relationships
Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively, with
demonstrated experience leading and managing multidisciplinary
engineering teams
Reporting to the Construction Manager, you will be
responsible for but not limited to:
Supervise Section Engineers, Project Engineers and Graduate
Engineers and support the Construction Manager in the safe and
efficient delivery of the project
Provide engineering leadership through safety, quality and
environment behaviours and results (KPIs achieved)
Lead risk management activities on projects, with HSE
support
Manage risk reduction strategies over the project life to
achieve risk mitigation
Educate and cascade the rights and obligations under the
contract to engineers, particularly the process around
variations, latent conditions, and programme
responsibilities
Manage cost and revenue reporting to relevant team
members
Complete monthly financial reporting requirements for works
under control
Develop a Construction Programme required under the
contract that is sufficiently detailed and resource-loaded with
the approved budget
Identify (early in the project) procurement packages that
will exceed budget and communicate to senior management
Complete forecasting reports accurately, on time and
consistently
Identify and analyse project forecast trends, developing
intervention and recovery plans where required
Identify and implement effective production monitoring and
control processes to identify gaps and opportunities to
improve
Provide a Lessons Learnt document at the close-out of a
project, or as required for longer-term contracts
Provide senior engineering oversight and input into
procurement and planning across the project
Act as a key point of escalation for engineering and
technical issues raised by Section Engineers, Project Engineers
and Supervisors
Support the Construction Manager in client-facing meetings,
progress reviews and technical discussions
