Chief Operating OfficerW Advisory | Suburban Accounting FirmAbout the RoleW Advisory is seeking an experienced and commercially driven Chief Operating Officer to lead the operational engine of our rapid-growing accounting practice.
We are a technology-focused, Xero-first firm on an ambitious trajectory — and we are looking for a COO who has the drive and capability to help us double in size over the next two years.This is a senior leadership role responsible for the day-to-day operations across four office locations, managing a team of 28 staff, and partnering directly with the Director to execute our growth strategy.Key ResponsibilitiesOwn and drive the firm's growth roadmap — scaling revenue, headcount, and capability to achieve 2x growth within 24 monthsOversee all operational functions across four office locations, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and service qualityLead, develop, and performance-manage a team of 28 staff including senior managers, accountants, and support personnelChampion the firm's technology-first culture — optimising Xero workflows, practice management systems, and automation tools to maximise team capacityManage P&L; accountability, budgeting, and resource allocation in partnership with the DirectorImplement scalable processes and reporting frameworks that support rapid growth without sacrificing qualityLead recruitment, onboarding, and team structure as the business scalesServe as the primary escalation point for client and operational issues across all locationsAbout YouQualifications: CA or CPA qualified (mandatory)Experience: Minimum 8–10 years in public practice accounting,
with at least 3–5 years in a senior leadership role within an accounting firm or professional services environmentProven track record managing a client fee portfolio or practice revenue of $5M–$15M, with demonstrated ability to retain, grow, and service clients at that scaleDemonstrated experience leading and developing teams, with a track record of building high-performance cultures across multiple locationsDeep familiarity with Xero and the broader cloud accounting technology stackDemonstrated experience managing multi-site operationsA proven growth operator — you have scaled a team, a practice, or a business before and know what it takesStrong commercial acumen with the ability to link operational efficiency to profit and revenue growthExcellent communication and stakeholder management skillsStrategic thinker who can also roll up their sleeves and executeWhat We Offer ComponentDetailBase Salary$150,000 per annumPerformance BonusUp to $50,000 per annumEquityEmployee Share SchemeTeam Size28 direct/indirect reportsLocations4 officesPortfolio Scale$5M–$10M revenue practiceGrowth Target2x firm size in 2 yearsWhy Join W AdvisoryWe are a purpose-driven, technology-first accounting firm focused on delivering tailored tax strategies and wealth structures for business owners and professionals.
