We run on continuous improvement and we're looking for a qualified cabinetmaker who wants to be part of how the place works — not just clock in and out of it.
About us
Asmbl builds high-end custom cabinetry for residential and commercial clients across Canberra — kitchens, wardrobes and architectural joinery, including work commended at the ACT Architecture Awards.
We're a small, tight crew: the director, two apprentices, and (hopefully) you.
Everyone does everything here — nobody's above sweeping and nobody's stuck on the broom.
The boss is on the tools, and the best idea in the room wins regardless of whose it is.
The workshop runs on a Biesse Rover CNC with Mozaik, with a dedicated draftsman producing the drawings.
Parts come off the machine cut and labelled — your time goes into the trade, not fighting the process.
How we work
We run this workshop on continuous improvement.
The first 30 minutes of every day goes to making the shop better — organisation, jigs, templates, processes — and everyone participates, every day, including the boss.
It's not a chore we bolt on; it's how the place got good.
Before your interview, we'll ask you to read a short book — 2 Second Lean by Paul Akers.
It's a quick, genuinely enjoyable read, the author gives it away free, and we'll send you the link.
When we meet,



we'll want to hear what you thought.
You don't need to know anything about Lean walking in.
You need to be the kind of person who reads the book and shows up with opinions.

The role
Cabinet assembly, hardware fitting and finishing to a high standard
Site installations and fitting across Canberra — client-facing work
Working accurately from drawings and specifications
Working alongside and guiding our apprentices — leadership experience well regarded, not essential
What you'll need
Certificate III in Cabinet Making (or equivalent) — fully qualified
Solid workshop and installation experience
Current driver's licence (site work)
Pride in your work and reliability we can build a schedule around

$40–$48/hr + super — tell us where your experience puts you
Quarterly performance bonus — up to a week's extra pay per quarter
All tools supplied — quality workshop and site kit, nothing out of your pocket
