Department For Child Protection

Adelaide

Build trusted relationships, strengthen collaboration and create pathways of support.
We are seeking a Senior Social Worker or Senior Professional Officer to work in our Hindmarsh office, as a Stronger Families Officer.
In this role, you will have the chance to work alongside Aboriginal mothers, their children, DCP colleagues and partner agencies to support family-led decision making and contribute to reunification pathways.
Guided by the Stronger Women, Stronger Families, Stronger Communities initiative, you will bring your experience in advocacy, collaboration and culturally responsive practice to support improved outcomes for Aboriginal children and families.
This is an opportunity to contribute to meaningful work that brings together services, families and communities to support positive change.
This is a single vacancy offered under a dual classification, meaning it may be filled by either a qualified Senior Social Worker (AHP2) or Senior Professional Officer (PO2), depending on the qualifications and suitability of the successful applicant.
In this role, you will:
Support Aboriginal mothers in custody to strengthen family connections and work towards reunification with their children

Build trusted partnerships with the Department for Correctional Services and other agencies to deliver coordinated, family-centred support
Advocate for women and their children by facilitating referrals, transition planning and access to the services they need
Provide guidance to help mothers understand the child protection system and prepare for community release
Contribute to programs and service improvements that create better outcomes.
About you:
You have experience supporting Aboriginal children, young people, families and communities through culturally responsive practice
You work collaboratively and share your knowledge to support critical thinking, reflective practice and capability development
You apply social work and case management knowledge to provide practical advice and support
You develop effective partnerships across agencies to achieve shared goals
You are organised, adaptable and skilled at leading projects and driving improvements.
If you want your work to help create stronger connections, open new pathways and contribute to better experiences for children and families, we invite you to submit an application for this opportunity.
