About the roleWe are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Bookkeeper / Accounts Officer to support our Senior Accountant during a busy period for the Group.
Working three days a week on an initial 3–6 month contract, you will take day-to-day ownership of accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll processing, keeping our financial records accurate and up to date.
This is a hands-on role well suited to someone who is organised, dependable and comfortable working to deadlines with limited supervision.
Key responsibilitiesAccounts Payable (AP)
• Process supplier invoices: matching, coding and obtaining approvals.
• Prepare and run supplier payment runs and reconcile supplier statements.
• Manage the AP inbox and resolve invoice or payment queries.
• Maintain accurate supplier records and expense claims.
Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Raise and issue customer invoices accurately and on time.
• Allocate incoming receipts and reconcile customer accounts.
• Monitor aged debt and carry out credit control / chase overdue accounts.
• Respond to customer billing queries promptly.
Payroll
• Prepare and process the payroll cycle, including starters, leavers and changes.
• Calculate and process PAYG withholding, superannuation and statutory entitlements.
• Complete Single Touch Payroll (STP) reporting to the ATO.
• Handle payroll queries and maintain accurate employee records.
General & month-end
• Perform bank reconciliations and post journals.
• Prepare BAS/GST reconciliations to support lodgement.
• Assist the Senior Accountant with month-end close and reporting.
• Maintain orderly, audit-ready financial records and filing.
Skills & experienceEssential
• Proven bookkeeping experience covering AP, AR and payroll.
• Confident with accounting software (Xero, Employment Hero) and Excel.
• Working knowledge of PAYG, superannuation, GST/BAS and STP obligations.
• Robust attention to detail and accuracy with numerical data.
• Well organised, able to prioritise and meet deadlines independently.
• Good communication skills for handling supplier, customer and staff queries.
Desirable
• FNS***** Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, commerce or business.
• Certified or working towards CPA Australia or CA ANZ.
• Experience with SprintSuite (or comparable practice/job-management software).
• Availability to start immediately.
