It outperformed Indonesia's national growth rate of 5.29 percent during the same period.
The latest result confirms Jakarta's position as Indonesia's largest regional economy.
The capital contributed an estimated ***** percent of the country's gross domestic product.
This is according to Deputy Head of Bank Indonesia's Jakarta Representative Office Bambang Arianto.
Household spending, rising investment and stronger business activity in accommodation and food services drove the expansion during the April–June quarter.
Consumer activity increased during the Jakarta Fair and the school holiday season.
This helped stimulate retail, hospitality, transportation and culinary businesses across the city.
Jakarta entered the second quarter from a strong base.
The city's economy grew 5.59 percent year-on-year in the first quarter of ****.
During that time, household consumption rose 5.72 percent.
Accommodation and food services recorded the highest sectoral growth of ***** percent, according to BPS-Statistics DKI Jakarta.
The second-quarter growth rate was slightly lower than the first-quarter figure but remained 0.23 percentage points above the national result.
The Jakarta Fair provided a significant boost to economic activity.
The annual exhibition generated Rp8.2 trillion in transactions in ****, up 12.3 percent from Rp7.3 trillion a year earlier.
The event involved approximately 2,800 participants occupying more than 1,800 booths.
This included hundreds of micro, small and medium enterprises, according to the Jakarta administration.
Investment also strengthened Jakarta's economic performance.
The province attracted Rp94.9 trillion in realized investment during the second quarter.
This represented 18.5 percent of Indonesia's total and placed Jakarta first among the country's provinces.
Domestic investment reached Rp58.6 trillion, while foreign investment stood at Rp36.3 trillion.
Jakarta's combined investment realization for the first half of **** reached Rp***** trillion, official Jakarta Investment Agency data showed.
Accommodation and food services grew at close to 10 percent as greater public mobility and holiday spending increased demand for hotels, restaurants and other tourism-related services.
Bank Indonesia had previously forecast that household consumption, investment and government expenditure would support Jakarta's economy throughout ****.
The central bank also identified global uncertainty, exchange-rate volatility and weaker international demand as risks to the outlook.
Jakarta's solid second-quarter performance highlights the capital's continuing importance to Indonesia's economy.
Maintaining household purchasing power, accelerating productive investment and supporting labor-intensive businesses will be crucial to keeping growth broad-based and sustainable.
