The Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior/Associate Engineer (Bridges) to lead the delivery of complex bridge and structures projects across Queensland.
In this role, you will drive the preparation and coordination of engineering designs, specifications and cost estimates for bridge assets - ensuring high-quality, compliant and creative solutions from concept through to delivery.
You will play a key role in shaping technical approaches for major bridge projects (new build, upgrades and rehabilitation), while supporting procurement activities through the review of contractor and consultant submissions.
Your expertise will ensure recommendations are grounded in best value, structural integrity, constructability and alignment with client and project objectives.
Opportunities are available in Brisbane, Cairns or Townsville, with flexible and hybrid working arrangements.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design and technical delivery of bridge and structural engineering projects, including concrete and steel bridge systems
Develop, review and approve bridge investigations, condition assessments and structural analyses
Prepare and review bridge design documentation, including drawings, reports,
specifications and cost estimates
Manage and coordinate site inspections and field investigations for bridge and transport infrastructure projects
Provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary teams on major infrastructure programs
Lead or contribute to tenders, proposals and pursuits, particularly for transport and structures opportunities
Guide clients through technical, regulatory and approval processes, clearly communicating complex structural issues
Ensure compliance with relevant Australian standards, design codes (e.g. AS****) and project specifications
Apply safety in design principles and actively manage project risks
Mentor and support junior engineers, building capability in bridge engineering
About You
Qualifications (Minimum and Desirable):
Bachelor's Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering (or equivalent)
Chartered Engineer (or working towards / committed to achieving shortly)
Project management certification (desirable for project leadership responsibilities)
experience in designing to TMR standards or delivery of TMR projects is highly desirable
Skills and experience
10+ years' experience in bridge / structural engineering,
ideally within consulting
Strong expertise in design, assessment and rehabilitation of bridge structures
Proven experience delivering transport infrastructure projects, including roads and bridges
Ability to independently lead technical work on complex or high-profile bridge projects
Strong capability in technical reporting and design documentation review
Experience in winning work and maintaining robust client relationships
Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop junior engineers
Strong understanding of quality, safety and risk management frameworks
Ability to balance technical excellence, innovation and commercial outcomes
