MainStream Aquaculture is a rapidly growing aquaculture business that produces and sells Barramundi (Lates calcarifer) products in Australia and internationally.
We are pleased to offer an opportunity for the right candidate to join our highly skilled and motivated aquaculture technical team.
Reporting to the Nursery Manager, you will be involved in the daily operations of Mainstream's industry leading fish production systems.
Position:Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS) Nursery position.
This is a full-time position with a rotating roster that includes weekend shifts and on call hours.
This position is suitable if you are passionate about aquaculture, physically fit and looking for professional development and growth in the aquaculture industry.
Mainstream Aquaculture team members have a strong work ethic, are excellent communicators and work collaboratively in a safe and structured manner.
Technician Responsibilities include:
Performing routine water, environmental and fish health testing.
Feeding and maintaining healthy fish stocks.
Executing daily production and routine maintenance plans.
Fish transfers, grading and vaccinations.
Working in line with the company's food safety, work safety and quality assurance regulations.
Maintaining data,
documentation and reporting to a high standard.
Maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
Professional Requirements:
Effective oral and written communicator.
A strong sense of personal accountability, responsibility and teamwork.
A passion for the aquaculture industry.
Flexibility to work on wide-ranging tasks and rosters.
Availability for on call and weekend rostered work.
Forklift ticket.
Australian resident or currently hold a visa with work rights in Australia.
Graduates and experienced applicants with tertiary qualifications in aquaculture, marine biology or similar are preferred; but formal qualification is not essential and training can be provided to the successful candidates.
