Your new opportunity
Due to exciting growth in ourMelbourne office,an excellent opportunity exists for an Insolvency Bookkeeper to join our supportive, driven and professional team.
The Insolvency Bookkeeper plays an integral role within HM Advisory's Corporate and Bankruptcy team.
Working closely with the Manager group and wider staff, this position is responsible for the accurate maintenance of financial records and bookkeeping functions across a range of formal insolvency appointments, including Voluntary Administrations (VA), Creditors' Voluntary Liquidations (CVL), Deeds of Company Arrangement (DOCA), and Bankruptcy matters.
This role demands a high degree of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail, as it involves handling confidential and commercially sensitive information.
The successful candidate will uphold HM Advisory's professional standards and contribute to the continued growth and development of the firm.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain cash books and IPS records across all formal insolvency appointments, including setting up new clients in Core IPS and SharePoint.
Perform data entry of receipts and payments accurately and in a timely manner.
Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for both corporate appointments and bankrupt estates.




Maintain and update creditor details within Core IPS.
Prepare disbursements and billings as required.
Assist with month-end payment processing, including EFT payments and cheques.
ASIC & Regulatory Compliance
Prepare ASIC Forms **** and **** (Receipts and Payments) for each formal appointment as required.
Lodge forms via the ASIC website and manage associated ASIC requirements.
Complete general ASIC lodgements and associated administrative tasks.
ATO & Tax Obligations
Manage various ATO requirements including monthly and quarterly BAS/IAS lodgements.
Prepare and lodge Incapacitated Entity forms.
Maintain the ATO Tax Portal and follow up on outstanding BAS refunds.
Banking & Accounts
Open and close formal appointment bank accounts as required.
AFSA Reporting
Complete Annual Estate Returns to the Australian Financial Security Authority (AFSA) on behalf of the Trustee in Bankruptcy.
Systems & Administration
Set up precedent proforma letters within IPS.
Support all levels of staff with IPS functions and queries.
Attend training as required to maintain and develop technical knowledge.
About you
Solid technical skills in bookkeeping and accounting software (Core IPS experience a plus)
A minimum of 3 to 5 years of industry experience
Proactive and able to use good judgement and initiative to assist with business outcomes, and work with minimal supervision
High level of attention to detail
Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities
Qualified attitude with problem-solving mindset
