VLA Productions is looking for someone with a strong live-production background to manage projects from the first client brief through to technical scoping, quoting, planning and delivery.
This isn't about being an expert in every department.
It's about understanding how a show comes together, knowing what's technically achievable and being able to work confidently with clients and the teams delivering it.
You might already be working as a Technical Account Manager, Production Manager, Technical Manager or AV Project Manager.
Or you might be a Crew Chief, Technical Lead or experienced Audio, Lighting or Vision person who's ready to take on broader project responsibility.
The role
You'll look after projects from the initial client brief through to show delivery.
Depending on the job, that could mean working through the client's requirements, developing the technical solution, preparing the quote and budget, coordinating departments, dealing with venues and suppliers and making sure everyone has what they need to deliver the show.
Day to day, you:
work directly with clients on their production requirements and advise on suitable technical solutions
build and maintain strong relationships with clients and venue partners
scope the technical requirements for each job
prepare accurate quotes and manage project budgets
coordinate Audio, Lighting, Vision, Staging, Rigging and other production requirements
work closely with our technical and production teams
liaise with venues, suppliers and other production partners
attend site inspections, production meetings, events and shows as required
troubleshoot issues and deal with problems before they become show-day problems




make sure what's being proposed to the client can actually be delivered on site.
The technical side
This is a client-facing role, but it's still very much atechnical live-production position.
You'll need hands‐on experience with professional live‐production equipment and enough technical knowledge to scope and quote work realistically.
A working understanding acrossAudio, Lighting, Vision, Staging and Riggingis significant, even if your own technical background is strongest in one area.
Our systems include equipment fromL‐Acoustics, Nexo, Funktion‐One, DiGiCo, Allen & Heath, grandMA, Robe, Clay Paky, Martin and Chauvet, along with professional LED, media‐server and live‐video systems.
You don't need experience with every brand we use, and you don't need to be a current operator across every department.
You do need enough practical knowledge to communicate confidently with technical teams, understand what's feasible and make sure the equipment, crew and production solution being quoted make sense for the job.
If you're also comfortable getting hands‐on with equipment when required, that's highly valued.
About you
Your background will be in live production, touring, technical events, venues or large-scale AV.
You might currently be working in:
Production or Technical Management
AV Project Management
Venue Technical Management
Technical Account Management
Crew Chief or Technical Lead roles
an experienced Audio, Lighting or Vision role.
You'll need to be comfortable dealing with both clients and crews and able to manage budgets, changing priorities and several projects at different stages.




Around2–3+ years of relevant professional live‐production experiencewould give you a good foundation for the role, although we're more interested in the experience and capability you bring than your current job title.
You don't need to have been an Account Manager before.
For the right person, this could be a good step from technical or production work into broader project ownership, client management and commercial responsibility.
This is alive‐production role, so we're looking for experience in live events rather than a solely broadcast or studio‐based background.

Salary & conditions
$100,000–$115,000 + super, depending on experience, plus paid overtime.
The role is full‐time and based at VLA Productions in Botany, with time also spent at venues, client sites and shows.
As you'd expect with live production, there'll be some evening and weekend work.Additional hours are paid rather than absorbed into your salary.
A current driver's licence is required.
