Apprentice Light Vehicle Mechanic - 1st Year Junior
to join our team in Moorooka, QLD. This is a
full-time apprenticeship position
that offers an excellent opportunity to launch your career in the automotive trades industry. As a 1st year junior apprentice, you will work alongside experienced mechanics, gaining practical hands-on experience whilst completing your formal training qualifications. This role is essential to our operations, allowing you to develop the foundational skills and knowledge required to become a competent automotive technician.
What you'll be doing
Assisting experienced mechanics with the servicing, maintenance and repair of light vehicles
Learning to diagnose mechanical and electrical faults under supervision
Performing routine maintenance tasks including oil changes, filter replacements, brake inspections and fluid checks as well learning how to carry wheel allignments and other suspension related tasks.
Using workshop tools and diagnostic equipment safely and appropriately
Maintaining a clean and organised workshop setting
Preparing vehicles for testing and inspection
Following all workplace health and safety procedures and regulations
Attending scheduled off-the-job training and completing coursework as part of your apprenticeship
Keeping accurate records of work completed and reporting any issues to supervisors
Contributing to the team and supporting colleagues where possible
What we're looking for
A genuine interest in automotive mechanics and the automotive trades industry
A valid driver's licence
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work
Reliability, punctuality and a strong work ethic
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual tasks in a workshop environment
A willingness to learn and ask questions
Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions
Commitment to safety and compliance with workplace procedures
Preferred: Some prior experience with vehicle maintenance, mechanical work or a cert 2 in automotive.
