Privacy Specialist
Are you passionate about privacy, AI governance, technology, and responsible data use?
We're looking for an experienced, strategic and self‐motivated Privacy Specialist to join our team and help drive privacy, data, and AI governance operational outcomes across BRG Group.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of privacy, technology, governance, and innovation, and wants to make a real impact across business and technical teams, partnering with stakeholders globally.
Some flexibility with working hours is needed to support cross‐jurisdictional collaboration.
What you'll be doing
Drive the delivery and continuous improvement of BRG's privacy and AI governance program
Manage and enhance the Privacy Platform, related processes, automation, and operational workflows
Maintain key privacy and governance artefacts, including DPIAs, ROPAs, and registers
Manage privacy operations, compliance monitoring, and ongoing framework uplift
Implement and maintain the enterprise AI Governance Framework, including responsible AI policies, AI system and risk registers, transparency requirements, and compliance assurance mechanisms
Partner with business, legal, and technology teams to embed Privacy by Design and responsible data use across initiatives
Identify, assess, and advise on privacy, data, and AI‐related risks, issues, and incidents, with practical recommendations for mitigation and remediation
Manage third‐party privacy and AI risk assessments, assurance activities, and compliance processes




Implement and maintain operational readiness across jurisdictions in line with privacy and AI obligations and recognised standards such as the NIST Privacy Framework and NIST AI RMF
Deliver privacy and AI governance training, communications, and awareness activities across BRG Group
Provide mentoring, guidance, and escalation support to privacy team members and other stakeholders as required
Qualifications
Essential
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Information Management, Technology, Business, Law, Risk, Compliance, or related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience
Desirable
Certifications such as CIPM, CIPT, CDPSE, ITIL, or related qualifications in information security, risk, privacy, or AI governance
Professional Experience
Essential
4+ years' experience in privacy, AI governance, risk, or compliance
Strong knowledge of global privacy and AI regulatory frameworks, including the Australian Privacy Act, GDPR, CCPA, and the EU AI Act
Experience conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and/or Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs), including risk identification, assessment, and mitigation
Experience implementing regulatory and policy changes in complex environments
Experience embedding Privacy by Design into products, systems, and projects
Experience assessing third‐party processors and vendors, including conducting Third‐party Risk Management Assessments
Strong stakeholder engagement skills and experience delivering privacy training and awareness programs tailored to diverse, including non‐technical, audiences
Hands‐on experience in privacy operations, including privacy incidents, data subject requests, records of processing, data mapping, and privacy notices
Experience implementing or operating privacy, risk, or governance platforms (e.g. GRC,



privacy management, or AI governance tooling) to support scalable compliance and assurance
Desirable
Experience governing AI systems across their lifecycle, including risk classification, conformity assessments, deployment approval, monitoring, and decommissioning
Exposure to regulatory engagement, audits, or formal assurance activities related to privacy, data protection, or technology risk
Experience operating in, or closely partnering with, a second‐line risk, compliance, or governance function
Experience working across distributed teams and multiple time zones

Sound judgement and a practical, risk‐based approach in evolving regulatory and technology environments
Commitment to horizon scanning and monitoring emerging privacy, AI, and technology developments and translating them into practical program responses
Able to balance compliance requirements with commercial outcomes and provide clear, actionable guidance
Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and influencing skills across cross‐functional teams
Strong written documentation, organisation, prioritisation, and attention to detail
Resilient, professional, and trusted to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion
