Electorate Officer - Office and Program Manger
The office of Emma Comer MP is seeking applications for a full-time non-ongoing (6 month contract) Office and Program Manager based in the Petrie Electorate Office in Clontarf, Qld.
Electorate officers act as their Parliamentarian's day-to-day representative with constituents and enable Senators and Members to fulfil their duties as elected representatives. Their role involves engaging with their electorate through providing high-level constituency support, community outreach and local event management for their Parliamentarian.
The role set out below provides a basis for the work and the engagement of the successful applicant.
KEY OBJECTIVE
Provide leadership to the Electorate Office and overseeing its duties, namely assisting local constituents, community organisations and businesses with a range of issues on behalf of the Parliamentarian. This includes assigning and monitoring workflows within the Electorate Office.
DUTIES
Electorate office operations oversight, office budget management
Oversee staff budgets and paperwork, expenditure and expense claims and prepare acquittal documentation with extremely high accuracy
Program oversight, diary management, travel and logistic support
Quality review electorate documents including before signing by the Member as required
Triage emails and correspondence and handle more complex matters
Quality oversight of constituent workflow and occasional complex constituent work
Management of constituent related electorate staff, mentoring and guidance
Participate in training opportunities
Promote, support and maintain a safe, respectful and inclusive workplace culture
General contributions to electorate activities and events as required
Other duties as required by the Member.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
An excellent understanding of local issues, government services, the Government's agenda,
and the broader political landscape
High-level written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively engage with a broad and diverse range of people across a range of channels
Ability to multitask, prioritise and exercise a high-level of accountability, initiative and problem-solving skills, including the ability to re-direct and delegate tasks
High level of administrative experience including Diary Management, Budget Management and Inbox Management
Demonstrated experience managing, leading and developing staff
Solid financial/budget management skills, or an ability to rapidly learn
Sound understanding of office management functions, including developing policies and procedures, using various IT equipment and overseeing maintenance
Employment conditions:
The position is offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act **** and conditions are outlined in the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement ******* which include:
A commencing salary between $91,158 to $102,681 will be negotiated depending on experience and relevant skills.
An additional optional Electorate Staff Allowance may be considered in recognition of, and compensation for, reasonable additional hours of work.
Relocation assistance, studies assistance and paid study leave may also be available (subject to eligibility requirements).
An employer superannuation contribution of 15.4% will be payable.

The role is based at the Parliamentarian's Electorate Office (EO) at 40 Hornibrook Esplanade, Clontarf.
