Kate Hill Wines is a family-owned winery nestled in the picturesque Huon Valley, just outside Huonville. The Opportunity
We're looking for an enthusiastic and capable Assistant Winemaker who enjoys being hands-on and takes pride in crafting exceptional wines. Working alongside our Winemaker, Kate Hill, you'll play a key role across all aspects of production in our boutique 70-tonne winery. This is a varied role offering genuine responsibility, autonomy and the opportunity to further develop your winemaking career in a quality-focused setting. No two days are the same, and you'll be involved in everything from vintage operations through to bottling, filtration, cellar management and continuous improvement of winery processes.
About You
You are passionate about premium wine and enjoy working in a collaborative, small-team environment where everyone contributes. Ideally, you'll bring:
A qualification (or currently studying) in Oenology, Viticulture or a related discipline.
At least three vintages of practical winery experience (preferred).
Experience operating winery equipment, including filtration and bottling systems.
A genuine commitment to producing wines of the highest quality.
Excellent organisational skills and strong attention to detail.
The ability to work both independently and as part of a close-knit team.




Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.
The confidence to supervise staff, organise workflows and delegate tasks when required.
A commitment to maintaining a safe, clean and efficient workplace.
A current Australian Driver Licence.
A current Forklift Licence (essential).
A First Aid Certificate (desirable).
The physical capacity to undertake winery duties, including working around sulphur dioxide (SO2).
During vintage, you'll be happy to roll up your sleeves and work flexible hours to help deliver an outstanding harvest.
