About the Role We are seeking a skilled and motivated Software Engineer to join our growing engineering team.
You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining software applications and systems that support our telecom and network integration services.
This role offers the opportunity to work on meaningful projects in a team-oriented, agile environment.
What You'll Be Doing A. Network Automation Tool Development Design, develop, and maintain automation scripts and internal tools to streamline the installation, upgrade, and configuration of mobile network infrastructure (4G/5G) .
Collaborate with network engineers to develop software solutions for the batch configuration and performance monitoring of microwave radios and routers, enhancing the efficiency of transmission network deployment.
Create software interfaces for Optus fibre and network solutions projects, integrating fibre infrastructure data into the company's centralised network management platform.
B. Data Integration Systems Operations Develop and maintain software interfaces to aggregate and analyse network performance data from diverse projects (e.g., Ericsson Optus Vision, Telstra 5G upgrades),
producing unified reports for management and clients.
Contribute to the operational support of critical network infrastructure by developing software tools for fault detection, performance monitoring, and log analysis, with potential participation in on-call support rotations.
Ensure all developed software integrates effectively with existing company IT systems and databases to support project documentation and regulatory compliance.
C. Full Software Development Lifecycle Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle: requirements analysis, design, coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
Write high-quality, maintainable code and conduct code reviews to ensure code quality, performance, and security.
Produce clear technical documentation, including design specifications, user manuals, and API documentation.
Work within an agile development environment, contributing to sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospective meetings.
D. Project Support Technical Collaboration Provide remote or on-site software technical support to field project teams, assisting with software-related issues concerning network equipment.
Collaborate with the project management team to assess software requirements for new projects, providing technical feasibility assessments and effort estimations.
Stay abreast of the latest telecommunications technologies and software engineering practices, recommending improvements for company innovation and process optimisation.
What We're Looking For 3+ years of professional software development experience in software development, software engineering, system engineering or a closely related position Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Tech Stack: -Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Python, C#, Java, or similar).
-Solid experience with RESTful APIs and web services integration.
-Strong understanding of relational databases and SQL.
-Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
Strong debugging, analytical, and root-cause analysis skills — able to diagnose and resolve complex software issues independently.
Experience working in cross-functional development teams with a strong focus on collaboration, code reviews, and iterative delivery.
Solid understanding of software development best practices, including clean code, testing, and documentation.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Nice-to-Haves Will Make You Stand Out A Master's degree or higher in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
Experience with secure coding practices and code review workflows — including familiarity with security compliance checks, post-incident analysis, and post-mortem reporting.
Previous work or study experience in Australia, demonstrating strong cross-cultural communication skills and the ability to work effectively in diverse, multicultural teams.
