Use your equine veterinary skills to work alongside some of Melbourne's top racehorse trainers.
A veterinarian is required to join a boutique, specialised equine practice in Melbourne with a strong focus on high-level performance horses and all aspects of thoroughbred sales and racing. The team, which includes experienced support staff and veterinarians, is team-oriented, supportive and genuinely enjoyable to work with.
Based in Melbourne, the practice services the scenic Mornington Peninsula, with regular visits to clients in Bendigo (North-West Victoria) and the Yarra Ranges (Eastern Victoria). The practice is well established and currently operates with two veterinarians, with plans to expand as their caseload continues to grow.
The role involves sharing responsibility for routine track work with trainers in the Melbourne and Mornington regions. Track work runs every weekday morning (Monday to Friday), with the rest of the week spent attending to performance and pleasure horse clients in the surrounding areas.
Weekend duties and after-hours calls are shared between vets. Each veterinarian is responsible for managing their own calendar and appointments,

though the office team is available to assist when needed, particularly with complex cases or pre-purchase exams. A fully equipped vehicle and work phone are provided. A generous salary and leave package will be offered, based on experience.
This role would suit a self-motivated, organised, and punctual vet with a strong interest in thoroughbred racehorses and ambulatory equine practice. Excellent client service skills and the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with trainers and horse owners are essential. A collaborative approach and a positive team spirit are also highly valued.
The clinic is committed to clinical excellence and provides a high standard of veterinary care tailored to each client's needs. Equipment includes digital radiography, video and overground endoscopy, gastroscopy, and ultrasound. Laboratory diagnostics are outsourced, with same-day results available.
This is a rare opportunity to join a growing practice that values professional development, client relationships, and a supportive, team-based approach.
