About the Barkly Region:
The Barkly Region covers more than 320,000 km2 stretching from the old Telegraph Station at Barrow Creek in the south to the historical droving township of Newcastle Waters in the north. Located approximately ****km south of Darwin and 500km north of Alice Springs. Tennant Creek has a population of 3,252 and is the largest town in the region.

About the Role:
Barkly Regional Council is seeking a Team Leader TC Swimming Pool at the Tennant Creek Swimming Pool. You will oversee the daily operations of the Tennant Creek Swimming Pool, ensuring the grounds, facilities, and aquatic environment are maintained to the highest standards. You will lead the recruitment, training, and supervision of Lifeguards, manage programs and events, and ensure compliance with legislative standards. During the off-season, you will also oversee the gym facilities, promoting safety and community engagement.
This role offers a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of our community while working in a agile environment.
Reporting to the Regional Manager Community Safety and Safe House, you will coordinate community safety activities, support service delivery outcomes, and build strong partnerships with stakeholders across remote communities.
The position holder must maintain personal fitness to a level that enables them to safely perform the physical requirements of the role.
Due to the duties and responsibilities of this role the position holder agrees to be reasonably available for after hours and weekend duties including school holiday periods as may be necessary for effective business operations.
The Essentials:
SISSS***** Royal Lifesaving Pool Lifeguard Skill Set or equivalent.
CPPSPS****A Handle, Transport and Store Swimming Pool and Spa Chemicals Safely.
SISSS***** Aquatic Technical Operator.
SISCAQU019 Supervise Patron Safety in Aquatic Locations.
SISCAQU021 Perform Complex Water Rescues.




SISCAQU022 Provide Oxygen Resuscitation and Therapy in an Aquatic Environment.
SISCAQU020 Provide Water Rescues.
HLTAID011 Provide First Aid.
HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.
National Criminal History Check.
Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card – Northern Territory).
Driver's Licence.
About You:
You are highly organised and detail-oriented, ensuring all records and operations are accurate and efficiently managed to keep the pool running smoothly.
You are a self-motivated communicator who works independently but supports a busy team, fostering a positive and collaborative environment.
You are experienced in administration and customer service, capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
