Venture Outdoors Co. is a leading provider of outdoor education experiences, delivering both centre-based and expedition-style programs that inspire personal growth, resilience, teamwork and environmental awareness. We are seeking passionate and capable Outdoor Education Guides to facilitate safe, engaging and meaningful experiences for school groups. This role offers the chance to work in diverse outdoor environments, lead adventurous activities and help participants develop valuable life skills through positive outdoor learning experiences.
Duties & Responsibilities
Venture Outdoors Co. run outdoor education program with both centre based & expedition style programs.
Guides will be allocated either group leading or activity leading depending on qualifications, skills. While group leading you will be the primary facilitator of the program aims. Activity specialists will join the group to assist with guiding activities. Activities include, hiking, mountain biking, flat water & moving water paddling.
Attend program briefing as required.
Review weather forecast prior to activity, if adverse weather discuss contingencies with Program Coordinator
Prepare activity & camping equipment as required
Welcome group, brief participants on expectations.
Visual gear check prior to departure of program
Facilitate safety briefings for all aspects of the group's program
Instruct group on hard skill activities




Facilitate group post activity on soft skill learnings
Provide first aid if require
If group is staying in lodge, set them up in lodge, brief on safety procedure.
A staff member might be allocated to run the dinning hall and manage dietary requirements.
On expeditions or base camps, guides are facilitating set up of campsite, running meals in an expedition or base camp setting and on call overnight with the group in the field.
Skills & Experience
- Guiding qualification: Minimum Certificate 3 Outdoor Leadership and Swift Water Rescue
- Experience in outdoor guiding and the delivery of school-based outdoor education programs is desirable.
- Current First Aid Certificate as a minimum, Wilderness First Aid preferred
- Current CPR Certificate
- Current Drivers Licence
- NSW Working with Children Check
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Excellent communication skills
Performance Goals
- Facilitate an enjoyable & safe program for all participants
- Coordinate with school staff to ensure goals are being met
- Ensure group is staying to schedule
- Liaise with other departments & external providers any program changes
