A leading refrigerated transport and logistics company in South Australia is looking for their next experienced Diesel Motor Mechanic to join their busy workshop team!
SkillQuest Solutions are seeking a highly skilled and qualified Diesel Motor Mechanic on behalf of our client, a well-established family-owned transport business based in Regency Park, South Australia.
Operating a modern fleet of heavy transport vehicles, prime movers and refrigerated trailers, this company specialises in the safe and reliable transport of refrigerated freight across Australia.
With a strong reputation for reliability, safety, and operational excellence, the company maintains a fully equipped heavy vehicle workshop fitted with advanced diagnostic technology to support the ongoing maintenance and repair of its fleet of Western Star, Freightliner, Hino, Isuzu and MAN heavy vehicles.
Position - Diesel Motor Mechanic Location - Regency Park, South Australia **** Salary - $77,000 - $87,000 plus superannuation per annum Employment Type - Full-time, Permanent THE ROLE: We are looking for a qualified and experienced Diesel Motor Mechanic who takes pride in delivering high-quality workmanship while maintaining exceptional safety standards.
This position is responsible for servicing, diagnosing and repairing the company's heavy vehicle fleet to maximise reliability, minimise downtime and ensure compliance with heavy vehicle roadworthiness requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: · Carry out diagnostic inspections on diesel trucks, prime movers, heavy transport vehicles and refrigerated trailers, including Wester Star, freightliner, Hino, Isuzu and MAN vehicles.
· Use Detroit Diagnostic Link (DDL), Jaltest, MAN-cats, Isuzu IDSS and other advanced computerised diagnostic systems to identify mechanical, electrical and electronic faults.




· Perform scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance on heavy vehicles in accordance with maintenance programs, including engine servicing, lubrication, replacement of oils, filters and fluids, and inspection of braking, steering, suspension and cooling systems.
· Repair, overhaul and replace diesel engines, transmissions, differentials, driveline components and associated mechanical assemblies in accordance with manufacturer specifications and workshop procedures.
· Diagnose and rectify faults in electrical and electronic systems, including engine management systems, sensors, actuators, charging systems and vehicle wiring using specialised testing equipment.
· Inspect refrigerated trailers and associated mechanical systems to identify defects affecting safety, reliability and operational performance.
· Test repaired vehicles using diagnostic equipment and road-testing procedures to ensure safe operation, manufacturer compliance and fleet reliability before returning vehicles to service.
· Attend vehicle breakdowns as required and perform mechanical repairs to minimise fleet downtime and maintain operations efficiency.
· Complete job cards, maintenance records, repair reports and parts documentation accurately while complying with workplace health and safety requirements and heavy vehicle roadworthiness standards.
· Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop environment and ensure all work is completed in accordance with workplace health and safety policies.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:



· Relevant qualification such as a Certificate IV in Heavy Vehicle Mechanical Technology or Automotive Diesel Engine Technology, or agreed equivalent.
· Minimum of 1 year (preferably more) post-qualification experience as a Diesel Motor Mechanic working on heavy diesel trucks and commercial vehicles.
· Experience servicing Western Star, freightliner, Hino, Isuzu, MAN or similar heavy vehicle makes is highly desirable.
· Strong knowledge of diesel engines, fuel, colling, transmission, steering, suspension, braking, electrical and electronic systems.
· Demonstrated ability to diagnose faults using Detroit Diagnostic Link (DDL), Jaltest, MAN-cats, Isuzu IDSS or equivalent computerised diagnostic systems.
· Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills with the ability to work independently.
· Knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements, heavy vehicle roadworthiness standards and compliance requirements.
· Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
· Ability to work efficiently both independently and within a collaborative workshop team.
· Valid Australian driver's licence is ESSENTIAL (Heavy Vehicle licence is desirable).
· You must have unrestricted working rights to work full-time in Australia to be eligible for consideration.
