Licenced in QLD by QBCC 11 Month contract (until 2nd July ****), fully remote role.
Immediate Start Hold either Bachelor BuildSurv (Cert), or, Adv Dip Building Surveying We are seeking an experienced Building Certifier (Level 3 minimum) for an immediate start for a QLD government organisation.
The contract is for full time work for 11 months, wrapping up on the 2nd July ****.
Role Responsibilities Coordinate, assess, review and determine development applications for building works and concurrence agency assessments under the Queensland Development Code.
Day to day administration of the requirements of the Building Act and its associated regulation including the review and assessment other applications for matters relating to building compliance.
Provide specialist technical advice on building matters to ensure compliance with relevant building regulations and represent the organisation as an expert witness in Building/Development Tribunals when required.
Provide input and recommendations on the organisations policies and procedures to ensure they are kept current with relevant legislation and associated building codes.
Develop and prepare reports on building development applications and other associated issues.
Maintain clear and accurate records that support service delivery, transparency, and good governance.
Always act as a role model in line with the organisations Values and Behaviours and display an elevated level of professional and ethical conduct.
Ensure a secure, healthy and inclusive work environment by complying with workplace health and safety legislation, WHS Responsibility Statements and relevant policies and procedures.




Refer matters which may impact upon the business and employees to the relevant supervisor or manager.
Undertake other relevant duties as directed, consistent with skills, competence and training.
Role Requirements Skills/Competencies Demonstrated knowledge of the Building Act and associated regulations, the Building Code of Australia, relevant Australian Standards, thorough knowledge of work practices and policies within the building industry, the Planning Act and planning scheme operation.
Demonstrated ability to interpret plans and drawings.
Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal, conflict resolution and negotiation skills with a strong commitment on the provision of quality customer service.
Proven time management, planning and organisational skills to effectively prioritise inspections, meet statutory deadlines, and manage multiple building compliance tasks concurrently.
Ability to effectively operate computer systems including Finance One and the Microsoft Office Suite.
Mandatory Qualifications, Licences and Experiences Bachelor of Building Surveying and Certification or Advanced Diploma of Building Surveying and substantial building certification and construction experience.
Accreditation as a Building Certifier with the Queensland Building and Construction Commission (minimum Level Three Building Certifier) Hold membership with the Australian Institute of Building Surveyors.
Hold a Construction Industry Induction (White Card).
Provide a satisfactory Criminal History Check (Police Certificate - Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).
