About the Role Ventia's TasWater contract is a long-term partnership delivering essential maintenance, asset management and project delivery services across Tasmania's water and sewerage network.
We are seeking a reliable and motivated Assistant Caretaker to support the day-to-day operation, presentation and upkeep of the Risdon Brook Dam Recreation Area.
Working alongside the Primary Caretaker, this role involves maintaining public amenities, undertaking routine cleaning and hygiene activities, assisting with grounds and facility maintenance, conducting site inspections and helping ensure a secure and welcoming environment for visitors.
This is a hands-on role that combines cleaning, caretaking and outdoor maintenance duties.
The successful applicant will be comfortable performing physical work, working outdoors, and using equipment such as pressure cleaners, blowers and other maintenance tools.
The position is initially approximately 8 hours per week, worked across 4 days (around 2 hours per day).
Applicants should be comfortable with the spread of hours and have reliable transport to travel to and from site.
Key Responsibilities Assist the Primary Caretaker with the operation, presentation and upkeep of the Risdon Brook Dam Recreation Area.
Clean, sanitise and restock public toilets, BBQ facilities, shelters and other visitor amenities.
Undertake site inspections and report maintenance issues, vandalism, hazards or faults.
Assist with litter collection, rubbish removal and general presentation of public areas.
Operate equipment such as pressure cleaners, blowers and other maintenance tools as required.
Assist with minor grounds maintenance and vegetation management activities.
Maintain stocks of cleaning consumables and site supplies.




Support a safe, clean and welcoming environment for visitors.
About You Current Australian Driver Licence and reliable access to a vehicle ( essential ).
Ability to undertake physical work including lifting, carrying, walking and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Experience in caretaking, cleaning, grounds maintenance, facilities maintenance, landscaping, labouring or similar practical roles.
Experience using hand tools, powered equipment or maintenance equipment is highly regarded.
Ability to work independently and manage tasks with minimal supervision.
Strong communication skills and a commitment to maintaining high presentation standards.
Basic computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
