Our client, Theio Theo, is a charming Greek restaurant nestled in the heart of Malvern East, Victoria.
Named after the beloved "Uncle Theo," this restaurant has become a cherished spot among locals, reminiscent of the vibrant taverns found scattered throughout Greece.
The restaurant's menu features a delightful array of traditional Greek dishes, with standout options including succulent lamb gyros, perfectly grilled seafood, and rich moussaka that highlights the use of high-quality, fresh ingredients.
They are currently looking for an experienced Chef to join their team.
As a Chef, you will have the chance to work in a truly dynamic team with the chance to display your creativity in the dishes that you create.
You will be able to hone your cooking skills and technique and will also have the freedom to express yourself in the dishes you create.
This is for a full-time role with an annual salary of $80,000 to $81,000 plus superannuation.
Duties will include: Implementing effective inventory management strategies to minimise waste, optimise storage, and reduce costs.
Mentoring and guiding kitchen staff to foster a culture of culinary excellence and skill development.
Ensuring impeccable dish quality through rigorous quality control measures and prompt issue resolution.
Overseeing staff recruitment, selection,



and training to build a high-performing team.
Developing and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers to guarantee timely delivery of fresh produce and minimise stockouts.
Upholding stringent food safety and hygiene protocols to safeguard public health and ensure regulatory compliance.
Preparing and presenting exquisite dishes that delight customers and reflect the restaurant's gastronomic identity.
Conducting thorough cost analyses to ensure financial sustainability while maintaining exceptional culinary standards.
Collaborating seamlessly with the Head Chef, Managers, and kitchen staff to facilitate efficient operations and drive continuous improvement.
Assisting with menu development to showcase seasonal ingredients, cater to diverse dietary preferences, and optimise profitability.
Qualifications: Must have at least a Certificate III, Certificate IV, and Diploma of Hospitality Management.
Should possess a minimum of one to two (1-2) years of experience as a Chef.
Experience and knowledge in modern Australian cuisine is essential.
Must be able to work with proteins like pork, beef, and seafood.
Must know how to prepare meals to dietary requirements.
Experience in kitchen operations and in managing a team.
