Degani Koo Wee Rup is part of this proud national café network, located in the Koo Wee Rup Shopping Centre in Victoria's South East.
We offer premium coffee, all-day breakfast, and fresh meals made to order, with dine-in and takeaway available for our local community.
As we continue to serve the Koo Wee Rup community, we are looking for an experienced and passionate Chef to lead our kitchen team.
About the Role As Chef at Degani Koo Wee Rup, you will plan, organise, and oversee the preparation and cooking of our all-day breakfast, lunch, and café menu.
You will bring strong kitchen leadership, culinary creativity, and a commitment to Degani's brand standards, delivering the quality and consistency our guests expect in every dish.
Key Duties Responsibilities Planning menus, estimating food and labour costs, and ordering food supplies in line with Degani's café concept and seasonal offerings Monitoring quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation, ensuring brand consistency across every plate Discussing food preparation issues with managers and kitchen and waiting staff Demonstrating cooking techniques and advising on cooking procedures — including breakfast cookery, house-made pastries, and café meal preparation Preparing and cooking food across the full all-day menu — including breakfast, brunch, lunch, fresh meals, pastries,
and catering and events items Explaining and enforcing food hygiene regulations and workplace health and safety standards Selecting and training kitchen staff as required Freezing and preserving foods in accordance with food safety requirements Requirements AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma in Commercial Cookery or Hospitality Management (ANZSCO Skill Level 2) Proven experience of at least 1 year as a Chef in a café, restaurant, or all-day dining environment Strong knowledge of contemporary café and breakfast cookery, including the ability to cater to a range of dietary needs Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor kitchen staff in a fast-paced service environment Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene standards, and kitchen compliance (Food Safety Supervisor Certificate preferred) Experience with catering and events service — highly regarded Strong menu planning and food costing skills At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for formal qualifications What We Offer Competitive salary commensurate with skills and experience Full-time, stable employment as part of a nationally recognised café brand with 25 years of heritage A structured, supportive café setting with established brand systems and standards Diverse menu offering spanning breakfast, lunch, pastries, catering, and events A key leadership role in a growing community café in Koo Wee Rup's main shopping precinct ?
