Experience required: Minimum 1 year experience as a Civil Engineer or in a relevant role
We're a Melbourne-based home building company looking for a Civil Engineer to join our team and help bring quality residential projects to life — from first site assessment through to handover.
About the Role
You'll be involved in every technical stage of our house builds, working closely with architects, site supervisors, and our construction crews to make sure each project is structurally sound, on budget, and built to code.
What You'll Be Doing
•Reviewing architectural drawings, engineering designs, specifications, and project requirements to assist in selecting appropriate construction methods, materials, and quality standards for each project.
•Reading, interpreting, and preparing site plans, engineering drawings, specifications, schedules, and other construction documentation to provide explicit information for site teams and construction activities.
•Coordinating on-site labour, materials, plant, equipment, and subcontractors, and developing realistic construction schedules to support efficient project delivery and maintain project timelines.
•Identifying geotechnical requirements for construction projects and working closely with qualified geotechnical consultants to coordinate appropriate site investigations and assessments. Reviewing geotechnical reports and recommendations, incorporating relevant findings into construction planning and engineering activities,
and responding to changes in ground conditions in consultation with the relevant specialists.
•Estimating project costs based on architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, quantities, and construction requirements, and preparing cost plans to assist in maintaining projects within approved budgets.
•Monitoring design changes throughout the construction process, assessing their potential cost and construction impacts, maintaining appropriate documentation, and coordinating or negotiating variations with relevant stakeholders where required.
•Reviewing structural designs and engineering requirements to ensure that proposed structures are capable of safely supporting anticipated loads and performing adequately under expected service conditions, including consideration of stability, movement, deflection, and vibration.
•Overseeing civil and structural construction works, including footings, drainage, earthworks, and other site-related works, ensuring that construction activities are undertaken in accordance with approved designs, engineering requirements, relevant standards, and applicable local council and regulatory requirements.
What We're Looking For
•A degree in Civil Engineering (or related field)
•Registration/CPEng eligibility (or working towards it) is a plus
•Solid understanding of Australian residential building codes and standards
•Comfortable splitting time between site visits and office-based planning
•Good communicator — you'll be liaising with architects, builders, and clients regularly
•Prior experience in residential or low-rise construction is highly regarded
Interested applicant may submit their resume. Please note that only shortlisted candidate will be contacted.
