Macpherson James Civil (MJ Civil) is a locally owned and operated railway plant hire and maintenance company. We specialise in rail maintenance works, infrastructure renewal, construction, drainage, structures, major projects and civil works.
Based in Rocklea, MJ Civil services the entire state of QLD, contracting predominately to Queensland Rail.
THE ROLE
Due to continued growth, MJ Civil is seeking an experienced Operator to join our team in Brisbane, QLD with intrastate travel required. This role would suit someone who is looking to continue their career in the rail industry with a well-established contractor, or someone who is currently operating in a civil setting and looking to transition to rail.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Operate plant and machinery including 4T/6T/13T Excavators, L70F/L90F Volvo Loaders, Skid Steers, Rail Handlers, Trucks and associated attachments.
Spotting of plant and machinery (where required).
Participate in/conduct daily pre-start/toolbox safety meetings.
Conduct daily pre-start equipment inspections.
Perform routine maintenance on plant and machinery.
Assist with yard maintenance.
Communicate effectively with team members, site supervisors and management.




Comply with all safety & environmental regulations and standards.
Participate in ongoing training and development to expand your skills and knowledge.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Excavator Ticket.
HR Truck Licence.
Construction Induction White Card.
Minimum 2 years proven experience operating excavators.
Positive attitude, honest and reliable.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety.
A keen interest in operating machinery, with a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
Ability to travel away and work day/night shifts as required.
Front End Loader/Skid Steer Tickets with experience.
HC Truck Licence.
Experience/tickets within the rail industry.
