Job Description
Sofitel Brisbane Central is seeking talented and enthusiastic cooks to join our culinary team.
As a cook in our hotel, you will play a crucial role in preparing high‐quality dishes, maintaining kitchen standards, and contributing to an exceptional dining experience for our guests.
Prepare and cook a variety of hot and cold food items according to recipes and quality standards
Ensure proper food handling, sanitation, and safety practices in all food preparation areas
Collaborate with kitchen staff to maintain productive operations and meet customer expectations
Assist in menu planning and development of new dishes
Manage food inventory, including ordering supplies and minimising waste
Maintain a clean and organised work environment
Operate and maintain kitchen equipment properly
Adapt to changing needs and handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast‐paced setting




Participate in team efforts to improve kitchen processes and overall dining experience
Comply with all relevant health department regulations and organisational policies
Qualifications
Flexibility to work across different shifts including evenings, weekends, and public holidays
Previous experience in a similar role within a luxury or five‐star environment
Trade qualification in commercial cookery
Maintain impeccable hygiene and kitchen standards in line with HACCP requirements
Current food handlers certificate
Strong knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, and kitchen procedures
Excellent knife skills and ability to operate standard kitchen equipment
Proficiency in preparing a wide range of cuisines and dietary options
Ability to read and execute recipes accurately
Strong verbal communication skills to interact effectively with team members and guests
Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays
Basic computer skills for using kitchen management systems
Ability to thrive in a fast‐paced, high‐pressure environment
Strong attention to detail and commitment to food quality and presentation
Team‐oriented mindset with a positive attitude
Culinary degree or relevant certification preferred, but not required with sufficient experience
Basic English language proficiency
