Vasco's Chargrill Chicken is seeking an experienced and motivated Chef to join our team at our Beaumont Hills restaurant.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Chef who is passionate about producing high-quality food, maintaining excellent kitchen standards, and contributing to the ongoing success of a busy hospitality business.
About the Role
As our Chef, you will play a key role in managing day-to-day kitchen operations, ensuring consistently high food quality, supervising kitchen staff, and assisting with menu development and cost control.
You will work closely with senior management and the Restaurant Manager to deliver an outstanding dining experience for our customers.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
Applicants must have:
A Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery
A Diploma of Hospitality Management
A minimum of one year of relevant post-qualification full time experience as a Chef in Australia
Excellent knowledge of food safety, kitchen operations, and commercial cookery practices
Experience in Asian cuisine is highly desirable
Key Responsibilities
Plan, design and modify restaurant menus in consultation with senior management, the Restaurant Manager and other kitchen staff
Develop and introduce new recipes, discussing cooking methods and menu improvements with management
Prepare and/or supervise the preparation of all menu items to ensure consistency and quality
Supervise, guide and coordinate the activities of cooks and other kitchen staff
Oversee the day-to-day operation of the kitchen to ensure efficient food production
Maintain consistent quality, presentation and timely service of all meals
Manage food purchasing, stock rotation and storage of food and related items within temperature-controlled environments
Order and requisition supplies to maintain smooth kitchen operations
Minimise food wastage through effective planning and supervision of food preparation
Implement quality control procedures to ensure food preparation and presentation consistently exceed customer expectations
Respond to customer feedback relating to food quality and hygiene in consultation with the Restaurant Manager and in accordance with company policies
Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen in compliance with NSW Food Safety Standards and relevant legislation
Train, mentor and support cooks and junior kitchen staff, including demonstrating cooking techniques and equipment use
Calculate food costs in consultation with the Restaurant Manager and assist in managing overall food cost budgets
Liaise with the Restaurant Manager and senior management regarding daily restaurant operations and continuous improvement initiatives
