The roleWe are looking for a hands-on, organised, and people-focused On Job Trainer to join our team on a fixed-term basis through to the end of November ****.
Based in office in Bowen, you will be the primary point of contact for all on-the-job training delivery, working closely with local supervisors and site management to ensure every employee is competent, compliant, and confident in their role from day one.Reporting to the HR Manager, this role sits within our People & Culture team and contributes directly to Mulgowie's commitment to food safety, workplace health and safety, and operational excellence.Your key responsibilities will includePlanning, scheduling, and delivering the employee induction programme for all new starters, covering organisational policies, food safety, WHS, and site-specific requirementsAdapting and maintaining site-specific versions of core work instructions, ensuring all references to local equipment, processes, and conditions are accurate and currentDelivering task-level on-the-job training to new and existing employees using localised work instructions, training checklists, and practical demonstrationSupporting local supervisors and team leaders in training delivery and briefing them on new or revised work instructionsMaintaining accurate training records and a site-level training register,
and submitting documentation to the OJT Team Leader in a timely mannerCoordinating refresher training for critical tasks and identifying emerging training needs at the siteActing as the local point of contact for all on-the-job training matters, liaising regularly with the OJT Team Leader and site managementTo be successful in this position you will haveCertificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE***** or equivalent), or a genuine commitment to attaining this within an agreed timeframeA minimum of two years' experience in a training delivery, operational, or supervisory role — preferably in agriculture, horticulture, or fresh produce packingDemonstrated experience delivering structured inductions or on-the-job training in an operational or production environmentPractical experience working with and adapting operational documentation such as work instructions, SOPs, or job safety analysesSound understanding of WHS obligations and food safety requirements relevant to fresh produce or food manufacturingProven ability to work independently at a site with limited day-to-day supervision, showing initiative and clear communication with a central teamStrong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage effectively with a diverse, multicultural workforceProficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience with document management or electronic filing systemsA patient, practical, and supportive approach to training — with a genuine commitment to helping employees succeed
