SKL Technology is currently searching for a motivated Lead Cyber Security Architect to join our growing client within their ICT Services Division.
The role involves delivering senior-level cyber security architecture services within a complex government workplace, working closely with enterprise architects, delivery teams, and executive stakeholders.
You will be responsible for designing, assuring, and guiding secure technology architectures across critical digital platforms, ensuring systems are secure by design, compliant with Australian Government frameworks, and resilient against emerging threats.
The role places a strong emphasis on governance alignment, architecture assurance, system authorisation, and security uplift across cloud, on-premise, and hybrid environments.
Location: Flexible (ACT, QLD, NSW, VIC, WA, SA, NT, TAS)
Type: Contract
Length: 12 months (with 1 x 12-month extension option)
Citizenship: AUSTRALIAN CITIZENSHIP IS ESSENTIAL
WFH: Hybrid (minimum 2 days onsite per week)
Key Responsibilities
Develop and document secure cyber security architectures across complex digital ecosystems.
Review architecture and design artefacts to ensure alignment with federal security frameworks (ISM, PSPF, Essential Eight).
Provide strategic cyber security guidance to architects, designers, and technical delivery teams.
Identify and communicate cyber security risks, gaps, and control deficiencies across enterprise platforms.




Assess changes to government and organisational cyber policies and advise stakeholders on system impacts.
Contribute to system authorisation, accreditation, and assurance activities, including IRAP assessments.
Support governance processes and ensure adherence to enterprise architecture standards.
Collaborate with senior leadership and architecture directors to uplift security posture across programs.
Facilitate knowledge transfer and capability uplift within internal teams.
Proven experience operating as a Cyber Security Architect within complex ICT environments.
Deep knowledge of Australian Government cyber security frameworks, including ISM, PSPF, and Essential Eight.
Demonstrated experience supporting system authorisation and assurance processes (including IRAP).
Strong ability to design and assess security controls across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments.
Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and advisory capability at senior levels.
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cyber Security, or related disciplines.
Industry certifications such as SABSA, CISSP, CISM, or equivalent.
10+ years' experience across IT environments in security architecture, application security, or secure system design.
Experience working within regulated or high-governance public sector environments.
Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks (TOGAF, COBIT, SAFe, ITIL).
