Lead and strengthen Council's cyber security capability by protecting systems, networks, and data from threats.
Partner with stakeholders to identify risks, implement controls, manage incidents, and embed security into all technology initiatives.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement a Council wide Cyber Security Framework and programIdentify risks through assessments and vulnerability testing; implement mitigation strategiesManage and optimise security tools (e.g. firewalls, intrusion detection, endpoint protection)Lead incident response and conduct root cause analysisEnsure compliance with standards (e.g. Essential 8, Mandatory 25, PCI-DSS)Deliver cyber awareness training across the organisationEmbed security and compliance into all projects and system changesSupport business continuity and disaster recovery planningEngage and influence stakeholders across all levels, including executivesProvide regular reporting on risks, threats,
and security postureSkills & Experience EssentialDegree in IT or related fieldStrong knowledge of cyber security frameworks, standards, and regulationsProven experience delivering cyber strategies and programsExperience in incident response and security investigationsStrong analytical, problem solving, and project management skillsExcellent communication skills with ability to translate technical conceptsCertifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CRISCCore ExpectationsActively contribute to a protected, compliant, and high performing workplaceSupport a positive, inclusive culture aligned to Council valuesUphold governance, risk, and compliance standardsIntegrate cyber security into broader organisational strategy
