We are seeking an experienced Cyber Security Specialist for an urgent backfill contract opportunity supporting a complex and highly secure ICT environment in Canberra.
This is an established position within a broader technical program, making it an excellent opportunity for a security-cleared cyber professional who can step into the role quickly, work with minimal supervision and make an immediate contribution.
The Role
Operating at SFIA Level 5, you will provide specialist ICT and cyber security expertise across a complex environment, working alongside technical specialists and engaging with a range of stakeholders.
The underlying program supports complex ICT systems and requires personnel capable of delivering specialist technical advice within secure, highly governed environments. The Cyber Security Specialist requirement specifically calls for ICT/cyber security experience and relevant professional certifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist cyber and ICT security advice across a complex technical environment.
- Support security governance, compliance and accreditation activities.
- Identify and assess security risks, issues and potential vulnerabilities.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of security documentation and artefacts.
- Work collaboratively with systems, network, infrastructure and other technical specialists.
- Support the implementation and ongoing operation of appropriate security controls.
- Engage effectively with technical, business and senior stakeholders.
- Contribute to broader cyber security and operational outcomes across the program.
- Work within established security, governance and technical frameworks.
The broader environment includes enterprise networking, infrastructure, server platforms and systems management, with Cisco and Juniper technologies specifically referenced within the technical environment.
About You
To be successful, you will ideally demonstrate:
- Strong experience in ICT Security or Cyber Security.
- Experience working within complex, secure enterprise ICT environments.
- Knowledge of cyber security governance, risk, compliance and accreditation.
- Ability to operate effectively at a senior practitioner / SFIA Level 5 level.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work across multidisciplinary technical teams.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management capabilities.
- Ability to quickly understand an existing environment and hit the ground running.

Relevant cyber security qualifications and certifications are highly regarded, including:

Security Clearance
Applicants must hold a current NV1 Australian Government Security Clearance at a minimum.
