We are working with an established medium-sized HR technology and advisory business supporting organisations with everyday employee and workplace matters. It combines digital solutions with practical advice to help clients manage people, policies, contracts and compliance.
They are now looking for an experienced Employment Relations Manager or Team Leader to lead their advice function in Sydney.
About the role
This is a hands-on leadership position. You will manage and support a team helping them deliver consistent, practical and timely advice to clients.
You will be responsible for day-to-day team leadership, coaching, quality reviews, workflow management and identifying ways to improve the service.
The role would suit either:
- An established ER or HR manager who enjoys coaching people and improving operations; or
- A senior ER advisor ready to take the next step into leadership.
The level can be tailored to the successful candidate's experience.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and coach a team of 10
- Hold regular one-to-ones, team meetings and quality discussions.
- Support advisers with complex matters and escalated client queries.
- Monitor workloads, service levels and case flow.
- Provide employment-relations advice when required.
- Review advice for quality, accuracy and consistency.
- Identify trends, recurring issues and opportunities to improve processes.
- Help develop policies, contracts, templates and client resources.
- Track performance data and prepare reports for senior management.
- Work with internal teams to improve the customer journey and product knowledge.
- Support training, webinars and product demonstrations.
What we're looking for You will ideally have:
- Experience leading or supervising an HR or employment-relations advice team.
- Strong knowledge of Australian employment legislation and workplace practices.
- Confidence managing escalations and sensitive employee matters.
- Experience coaching advisers and improving quality.
- A practical approach to applying employment law in a commercial environment.
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- The ability to manage competing priorities in a busy, high-volume setting.
Experience with contemporary awards, contracts, workplace policies, performance management and WHS would be advantageous.
This role may also suit you if… You are a senior ER advisor or consultant who has informally coached colleagues, reviewed advice or acted as a subject-matter expert and is ready to move into a formal leadership role.
