Job description
Offshore Hydrographic Surveyor
We are seeking an experienced Hydrographic Surveyor to join an offshore survey team supporting marine, subsea and offshore energy projects across Australia.
The successful candidate will work as part of the offshore survey team, supporting the planning and execution of survey activities, data acquisition, quality control, reporting and project delivery. The role requires a solid understanding of hydrographic surveying and geomatics principles, offshore survey operations and relevant industry standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct offshore hydrographic and survey activities in accordance with project specifications, procedures and applicable industry standards.
- Support the planning and execution of survey operations across offshore projects.
- Undertake survey data acquisition, monitoring and quality control activities.
- Operate and monitor survey systems and sensors during offshore operations.
- Assist with survey line planning and review project specifications and survey requirements.
- Process, analyse and quality-check survey data to ensure accurate and complete project deliverables.
- Prepare survey reports, records, documentation and client deliverables.
- Support project and vessel mobilisation and demobilisation activities.
- Maintain accurate survey and project documentation throughout offshore operations.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, suppliers and other project stakeholders as required.
- Work closely with Surveyors in Charge, Survey Engineers/Technicians, ROV teams and vessel crew.
- Provide technical input into survey planning, project execution and problem solving.
- Ensure survey activities are conducted safely and in accordance with company procedures, project requirements and HSE standards.
- Maintain a strong understanding of relevant industry guidelines, standards and specifications, including IMCA requirements.
About You
- Degree or Diploma in Land or Hydrographic Surveying, Geomatics or a related discipline.
- Proven experience working as a Hydrographic Surveyor in an offshore environment.
- Thorough understanding of surveying and geomatics principles.
- Strong understanding of offshore hydrographic survey operations and methodologies.
- Experience with survey data processing, reporting and analysis. This is not essential but will be advantageous.
- Strong understanding of survey quality control and data management.
- Experience with project and vessel mobilisations.
- Experience with document management and maintaining project survey documentation.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, contractors, suppliers and project stakeholders.
- Good understanding of relevant offshore survey industry guidelines and specifications, including IMCA.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary offshore team.
- Australian working rights are essential.

- Qinsy
- Qimera
- CARIS
- HiPAP
- USBL / LBL systems
- MBES
- AUV survey operations
- ROV survey activities
- Diving and inspection survey activities
- Geophysical surveys
- GIS and spatial data management
- GNSS and positioning systems
- Sound velocity and associated hydrographic survey systems
Qualifications & Certifications
- Degree or Diploma in Land or Hydrographic Surveying, Geomatics or a related discipline.
- Relevant offshore survey experience.
- Current offshore medical and relevant offshore safety certifications.
- Full Australian working rights.
