About the role

Reporting to the Public Health Manager, you will coordinate a range of projects across Miwatj's public health programs, with a particular focus on health promotion resources, community health messaging, monitoring and evaluation, and project coordination.

You will work collaboratively across the organisation and with external partners to ensure public health initiatives are culturally appropriate, strengths-based and responsive to the needs of the communities we serve.

In this role, you will:

- Coordinate the planning, monitoring and evaluation of Public Health activities and resources.
- Build strong and collaborative relationships with Miwatj mala, staff and partner agencies.
- Lead the development and adaptation of culturally appropriate and in-language health promotion resources.
- Support the Yolŋu community-based workforce to strengthen skills in culturally appropriate health communication and messaging.
- Coordinate health promotion and public health social marketing campaigns.
- Maintain and manage health promotion resources in line with evidence-based best practice.
- Support effective administrative processes and systems across the Public Health team.

About you

We are looking for someone who brings solid project coordination, communication and relationship-building skills, together with an understanding of health promotion and public health in an Aboriginal community setting.

You will ideally have:





- A strong understanding of and commitment to Aboriginal Community Control and self-determination.
- An understanding of the issues experienced by Yolŋu people living in remote settings.
- A Diploma or extensive relevant experience in health promotion, public health or a related discipline.
- Knowledge of health promotion principles and the social determinants of health.
- Experience implementing and using monitoring and evaluation tools.
- Strong written, interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Demonstrated project management and administration skills.
- The ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- The ability and willingness to travel throughout the Miwatj East Arnhem region.
- Experience delivering health promotion programs in remote communities and/or experience in training and mentoring will be highly regarded. Knowledge of North East Arnhem kinship systems or the ability to speak an Aboriginal language from the Miwatj region would also be advantageous.

Pre-Employment Requirements

The successful applicant will be required to hold a current Working with Children Clearance, Northern Territory Driver's Licence, and undergo a Criminal History Check.
