Our client operates a world-class integrated iron ore mining and processing operation in Western Australia, producing and exporting high-quality iron ore while supporting safe, efficient and sustainable resource development.
About the Position
We are seeking an experienced Cost Controller to support maintenance and operational teams by providing accurate cost reporting, forecasting, and governance across maintenance activities. Working closely with stakeholders across Finance, Planning, Reliability, Engineering, Procurement, and Maintenance Execution, you will play a critical role in ensuring costs are controlled, reported accurately, and aligned with budget expectations while driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor, analyse, and report on maintenance cost performance
- Prepare weekly and monthly cost reports and forecasts
- Support month-end processes, accruals, and budget reviews
- Raise and process purchase requisitions and purchase orders
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and improve cost accuracy
- Review contractor charges, invoices, and service entries
- Conduct audits and verification of vendor activities and costs
- Ensure compliance with governance, approval, and audit requirements
- Support maintenance leadership with cost analysis and variance reporting
- Coach and support teams in cost-control processes and best practices
- Collaborate with Finance, Planning, Reliability, and Procurement teams
Skills and Experience Required
- Experience in cost control, financial governance, or maintenance support roles
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders
- Strong communication and influencing skills
- Experience in maintenance, mining, industrial, or asset-intensive environments
- Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office applications
- Experience with Power BI or data reporting tools (advantageous)
- Understanding of work management and procurement processes
