- Part-time (0.6FTE) position until June 2027. Tues, Thurs & Fri 10am - 6pm.

- Based at our Coffs Harbour office on the lands of the Gumbaynggirr People.

- $40.49 - 44.29ph + 12% Super + Generous Salary Packaging benefits of up to $18,550

Join the Therapeutic Alliance Team and be part of a multidisciplinary service delivering person-centred mental health support across the North Coast of NSW. As a Peer Worker, you'll use your lived experience of mental illness, substance dependence, and/or trauma to walk alongside people on their recovery journey, helping them build hope, connection, and confidence.

About the role

In this rewarding role, you'll provide one-on-one peer support and facilitate peer support groups for people with complex and severe mental health needs. Drawing on your own lived experience in a purposeful and professional way, you'll help individuals identify strengths, build community connections, and work towards their self-defined recovery goals.

Key responsibilities include:

- Providing individual and group peer support

- Building authentic, recovery-focused relationships with participants

- Supporting people to identify strengths, wellbeing strategies, and recovery goals

- Promoting hope, choice, self-determination, and social connectedness

- Collaborating with clinicians and other service providers to strengthen recovery-oriented practice

- Participating in peer supervision, reflective practice, and ongoing learning opportunities

About you

To be successful, you'll bring:

- Personal lived experience of mental illness, substance dependence, or trauma with experience of recovery and a willingness to use that experience to support others

- Strong communication and relationship-building skills





- Experience facilitating groups or confidence in supporting group activities

- A non-judgemental, inclusive, and person-centred approach

- The ability to maintain professional boundaries whilst sharing lived experience appropriately

- Current driver's licence

Highly regarded:

- Experience navigating mental health and alcohol and other drug services

- Understanding of trauma-informed care and harm minimisation approaches

- Knowledge of human rights and social justice principles

- Experience working with diverse communities

- Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work and/or Intentional Peer Support training
