Supervisor – Compliance
About the Role

Banana Shire Council is seeking an experienced and community‑focused Supervisor – Compliance to lead our Compliance team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee animal management operations, local law enforcement, and the Animal Management Facility, ensuring high‑quality service delivery to our community.

As a frontline representative of Council, you will manage regulatory responsibilities, guide a small team, and contribute to community education, safety, and responsible pet ownership.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead daily operations of the Compliance team, including animal management, the Animal Management Facility and local laws functions.

- Supervise, develop and train team members in investigations and enforcement.

- Respond professionally to customer service requests and complaints.

- Conduct investigations, gather evidence, prepare briefs, and present in court when required.

- Draft statutory notices and maintain compliance registers.

- Deliver education programs to schools and community groups.

- Maintain facility assets and ensure high standards of animal care.

- Participate in on‑call roster duties.

About You

You will bring strong leadership capability, excellent communication skills and sound knowledge of animal management and local law compliance.

You will have:

Compulsory

- QLD C‑Class Driver’s Licence (minimum provisional)

- Current Blue Card – Working with Children Check





Desirable

- White Card (General Safety Induction)

- Certificate IV in Government (Statutory Compliance) or equivalent

Skills & Knowledge

- Solid understanding of animal behaviour, identification and control.

- Demonstrated ability to interpret and enforce legislation and Local Laws.

- High‑level conflict resolution skills.

- Knowledge of legal processes and evidence requirements.

- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication.

- Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.

- High‑level computer and keyboard skills.
