We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Registered Nurse who is passionate about education, career development and delivering excellence in patient care. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative clinical leader who enjoys mentoring others, fostering evidence-based practice and supporting the ongoing development of nursing capability within a specialised cardiology and cardiothoracic environment.
Selection Criteria
To help us assess your suitability for the role, please tell us as much as you can about yourself in response to the questions below.
- Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a post graduate qualification in a relevant clinical field or education post graduate qualification or a combination of education training and clinical experience deemed appropriate by SWSLHD.
- Give a brief overview of what education training and clinically relevant experience you bring with you to the role?
- Describe your clinical knowledge and experience in cardiology and cardiothoracic nursing, including the management of patients with cardiac conditions and those undergoing cardiac or thoracic surgery. How have you applied this expertise to improve patient care?
- Provide an example of a specialty education program you have designed, implemented, and evaluated in a cardiology or cardiothoracic setting. How did you identify learning needs, and what was the impact on staff practice or patient outcomes?
- Describe your experience providing clinical leadership, mentorship, and support to nursing staff, students, or new graduates.
Include how you have developed or assessed competencies in areas such as cardiac monitoring, ECG interpretation, post-operative cardiac surgery care, chest drain management, temporary pacing, or recognising patient deterioration.
- Provide an example of how you have contributed to evidence-based practice, quality improvement, or patient safety within a cardiology or cardiothoracic service. How did you collaborate with multidisciplinary team members, and what outcomes were achieved?
