About the Role
V Care Assisted Living is seeking reliable, compassionate and experienced Disability Support Workers to join our growing casual support worker pool in Newcastle, Cessnock, Maitland and Lake Macquarie.
We are looking for experienced support workers in personal care, capacity building supports, behavioural supports, experience in looking after people with Autism.
Key Responsibilities
Your duties may include:
· Supporting participants with community access, appointments, shopping and social activities
· Providing personal care, including showering, dressing, grooming, hoist transfers and toileting
· Assisting with daily living activities and promoting participant independence and manual handling.
· Supporting participants to work towards their NDIS goals
· Following individual support plans, behaviour support plans and care instructions
· Supporting participants who may display complex or behaviours of concern
· Providing high-quality support while maintaining dignity, choice and control
· Completing progress notes, incident reports and other required documentation
· Working collaboratively with participants, families, support coordinators and the wider care team
About You
We are looking for support workers who are dependable, professional and genuinely committed to quality disability support.
Experience in behaviour management/positive behaviour support and high-intensity care is highly regarded.
Community access availability in school times to help with school drop offs near Cessnock and surrounding areas are beneficial.
Previous experience supporting participants with complex needs, behaviours of concern or high-intensity daily personal activities will be an advantage.
Essential Requirements
Successful applicants will be required to have,
or be willing to obtain where applicable:
· Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, Community Services or a relevant qualification
· Previous disability or community care experience
· NDIS Worker Screening Check
· Working with Children Check where required
· Current First Aid and CPR
· NDIS Worker Orientation Module
· Current Australian driver’s licence
· Reliable and insured vehicle
· Appropriate Australian working rights
· Good communication and documentation skills
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Additional NDIS high-intensity support training and relevant competencies will be highly regarded.
What We Offer
· Casual SCHADS Award rates from $45 – $48 per hour, depending on applicable classification and experience
· Additional weekend, public holiday, shift and other applicable penalties/allowances
