Manager Governance (Privacy) - Temporary chance up to 12 months - based in Sydney CBD + hybrid/flexible working options available
- Up to 12 month Temporary appointment, with possibility to extend or make ongoing if an opportunity arises
- Clerk Grade 11/12 Salary: $154,231 - $178,369+ super, commensurate with experience

The Department of Customer Service seeks a privacy leader to join Governance, Risk and Assurance as Manager Governance (Privacy).
Reporting to the Director Risk & Compliance, you will both manage a specialist privacy team and drive a lift in privacy capability across DCS diverse services and agencies.
You will set clear expectations, build practical capability and help executives and teams manage privacy risk and incidents.
You will strengthen assurance, guide responses to incidents and data breaches, and embed privacy by design into policy, technology and service delivery.
What you'll be doing
In this role you will:
- Set the direction for privacy governance and lead a coordinated advisory, assurance and capability program across the portfolio using insights and trends to identify systemic risks and drive measurable improvement.
- Ensure legislative and policy obligations are transparent in practical standards, tools and guidance that business areas can apply.
- Lift the privacy capability of leaders, project teams and frontline functions through targeted education, coaching and communities of practice.
- Provide authoritative, risk-based advice on complex privacy matters, emerging issues and major strategic decisions.
- Strengthen oversight of privacy impact assessments, incidents, data breaches, controls and remediation.
- Partner early with digital, data, policy and service teams to embed privacy by design into transformation initiatives.
- Lead, coach and develop a high-performing team of privacy professionals.
About you
You are a pragmatic focused leader who can turn complex privacy requirements into sustained organisational capability.
You bring:
- Substantial experience in privacy, risk, legal or comparable functions in a complex environment, and inleading teams and delivering through others.
- Deep knowledge of privacy legislation, governance frameworks and contemporary privacy practice.
- A track record of designing and lifting capability.
- Strong judgement and ability to navigate ambiguity, competing priorities and sensitive issues including by influencing senior leaders and building trusted partnerships
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or significant professional experience in privacy or a related field.
