Dunn's Recovery & Heavy Haulage is a well-established local operator providing heavy vehicle recovery and transport services throughout the Tamworth region and beyond.
We're looking for an Heavy Tow & Tilt Tray Operator to join our team. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who takes pride in their work, understands heavy vehicles and equipment, and can confidently handle recovery and transport jobs safely and professionally.
The Role
You'll be responsible for the safe recovery, loading, transport and delivery of heavy vehicles, machinery and equipment. You'll attend breakdowns and incidents, often working independently and dealing directly with customers, emergency services and other agencies.
Your day-to-day duties will include:
- Operating heavy tow trucks and tilt tray recovery equipment
- Recovering and transporting heavy vehicles, machinery and equipment
- Attending breakdowns, incidents and recovery call-outs across the region
- Safely loading, securing and transporting vehicles and equipment
- Completing pre-start inspections and basic maintenance on recovery vehicles
- Working safely around customers, emergency services and other contractors
- Maintaining accurate job records and completing required paperwork
- Representing Dunn's Recovery & Heavy Haulage professionally at every job
What We're Looking For
You will ideally have:
- A current MC licence — or a current HC licence with the ability and willingness to upgrade to MC
- A NSW Tow Authority Certificate, or the ability to obtain one
- Previous experience in heavy vehicle recovery,
towing or heavy haulage
- Strong mechanical knowledge and a good understanding of heavy vehicles and equipment
- The ability to competently operate a Road Ranger gearbox
- A sound understanding of load restraint, chain of responsibility and WHS requirements
- The ability to work independently and respond to call-outs and varying hours when required
- A strong safety focus and a professional, can-do attitude
- Good communication and customer service skills
Diesel Mechanics — We'd Like to Hear From You
Qualified diesel mechanics are encouraged to apply.
If you're an experienced diesel mechanic looking for a change from the workshop, this could be an excellent opportunity to put your mechanical skills to work in a different environment.
Your ability to diagnose mechanical issues, understand heavy equipment and work confidently around heavy vehicles will be a genuine asset in recovery work.
