About the Role
Reporting to the Directors, the Senior Accountant will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting functions, ensuring financial accuracy and compliance, and providing timely financial reporting to support business decision-making.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Preparing monthly management accounts and financial reports
Managing month-end and year-end close processes
Preparing balance sheet reconciliations and general ledger maintenance
Assisting with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow reporting
Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards, taxation, GST, BAS, payroll tax, and other statutory obligations
Supporting external auditors and coordinating year-end audit requirements
Reviewing and improving accounting processes and internal controls
Providing guidance and support to the accounts team
Assisting with payroll oversight and ensuring payroll compliance where required
Monitoring accounts payable and receivable functions to ensure accuracy and efficiency
Supporting financial analysis and providing recommendations to management
Participating in business improvement initiatives and system enhancements
Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures
What We're Looking For
Diploma qualified in Accounting, Commerce, or a related discipline
Demonstrated experience in a senior accounting role
Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and taxation requirements
Experience preparing financial statements and management reports
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
High level of attention to detail and accuracy
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with accounting software
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment
