About the role

We are seeking an experienced Driver Trainer and Assessor to join our team at our Epping, Victoria location on a full-time basis. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, delivering, and assessing driver training programs to ensure our fleet operates safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with all regulatory requirements. You will play a crucial part in maintaining Mainfreight's reputation for safety whilst supporting the professional development of our drivers and team across the business.

Key responsibilities

- Design, develop, and deliver comprehensive driver training programs tailored to different vehicle types and operational requirements
- Conduct practical and theoretical assessments of drivers to evaluate their competency and identify areas for improvement
- Assess and verify driver qualifications, licences, and certifications in accordance with Australian transport regulations and industry standards
- Maintain accurate training records and assessment documentation, ensuring full compliance with legislative requirements
- Provide constructive feedback to drivers following training sessions and assessments, supporting their professional development
- Work closely with our operational teams to identify training needs and develop targeted training programs




- Stay current with transport legislation, safety regulations, and best practice in driver training methodologies
- Mentor and support drivers in developing protected driving habits
- Assist in the development and review of training materials and assessment tools
- Travel to Mainfreight branches around the country for the purposes of conducting assessments and training

What we’re looking for

- Proven experience as a professional driver or in a driver training and assessment role within the transport and logistics industry
- Strong knowledge of Australian transport legislation, road safety regulations, and vehicle operation standards
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to instruct and motivate drivers of varying backgrounds and experience levels
- Ability to assess driver performance objectively and provide constructive, actionable feedback
- Strong organisational skills with the capability to manage training schedules, assessments, and documentation efficiently
- A commitment to safety and a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks
