Operations Technician – Landfill Services
Run Energy is a leading provider of renewable energy solutions and waste management services. Our goal is to create a sustainable future by providing innovative and cost-effective solutions for waste management, energy recovery, and environmental protection.
We are seeking an experienced field technician to join our team and be responsible for the operations and maintenance of landfill gas and leachate collection systems, with a focus on leachate pump maintenance. Company Car provided.
Responsibilities
- Conduct scheduled environmental monitoring of landfill gas collection systems
- Gas collection system monitoring and balancing
- Surface emissions monitoring
- Out-of-waste bore monitoring
- Conduct unscheduled maintenance of landfill gas collection systems
- Conduct schedule and unscheduled maintenance of landfill gas flares
- Conduct scheduled and unscheduled monitoring and maintenance of air operated leachate pumps
- Report on operations performance, compliance and production results
- Liaise with and report to customer site representatives
- Liaise with and assist sub-contractors
- Complying with the duty of care assigned under OH&S; legislation and demonstrate commitment to accident prevention
- Observing all work instructions, procedures, safety codes of practice,
employer OH&S; and Environmental requirements and statutory rules and regulations
- Wear the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment as require
- Participate in safety, toolbox or other meetings where required
- All other duties within competence, skill, qualifications and experience as directed
- Working flexible work hours and in some unpleasant conditions
- On-call requirement (roster) for response to landfill gas flare outages
Requirements
- Waste/environmental experience preferred but not essential
- Valid Driver’s license
Skills and Qualifications
- Willingness to learn and develop
- Ability to work outdoors and in unpleasant conditions
- Positive mechanical aptitude and understanding of basic machines including pumps, blowers, air compressors and plant instrumentation (trade background not essential)
- Ability to follow instructions and use multiple environmental monitoring equipment
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative
- Ability to travel to multiple landfill sites
- Reasonable computer skills, ability to navigate around internal company databases including Maintenance Management Systems and online systems
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong time management and organisational skills.
