Queensland Metal Recyclers (QMR) is a leading metal recycling and recovery business servicing major industrial, mining and infrastructure projects throughout Queensland and interstate.
Due to several new mining contracts secured, we are seeking experienced Oxy Cutters to join our team and work across our current and upcoming mining projects throughout Queensland.
This is an opportunity to join an established business with ongoing project work and the potential for continued employment for the right candidates.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Working as part of our project teams, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient cutting and processing of heavy steel and scrap materials on mining and industrial sites.
- Oxy/LPG cutting of heavy steel and scrap materials
- Cutting and processing large mining equipment and structures
- Preparing materials for loading and transport
- Working alongside excavators, material handlers, and forklifts
- General scrap metal processing and sorting
- Maintaining a safe and organised work area
- Working in accordance with site and QMR safety procedures
- Other general duties associated with mining and metal recovery projects
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Demonstrated oxy cutting experience
- Heavy steel cutting experience
- Current Driver Licence
- Ability to pass a Coal Board Medical / site medical
- Current S11 – Standard 11 Mining Induction
- Ability to satisfy all relevant mine site onboarding requirements
- Robust commitment to safety
- Ability to work effectively as part of a site-based team
- Reliable work history and strong work ethic
HIGHLY REGARDED
- Previous mining or heavy industrial experience
- Previous metal recycling experience
- Excavator or material handler experience
- Additional relevant mining competencies and tickets
- Experience working on large-scale shutdown, demolition or scrap recovery projects
